Privacy policy development tools for justice professionals

JusticePrivacy.com is a forum for criminal justice system professionals considering or developing an information system designed to electronically exchange data with other agencies. Specifically, its goal is to provide practical guidance to individuals whose job it is to address the public's privacy concerns surrounding the government's use of personally identifiable information in its enforcement of criminal laws.

It is my hope that this website can be an invaluable tool for anyone whose job it is to develop a privacy policy for a justice agency.

The materials and documents included throughout this website explain the need for criminal justice agencies to consider privacy issues when designing or using information systems and provide some practical guidance on how to address those issues by developing privacy policies. Many of these documents were developed during my five years as a policy analyst with the Illinois Integrated Justice Information System; other products have been developed during my experiences since that time and include new recommendations or extensions of the previous work.
